Businessmen reject politics of civil disobedience, long marches

Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry and SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Pak chapter Wednesday outrightly rejecting PTI’s call of civil disobedience and long marches reposed full confidence in the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.
Talking to APP on Wednesday, FPCCI President Zakaria Usman and VP SAARC CCI Iftikhar Ali Malik turning down the civil disobedience call of PTI, said the country was passing through a critical phase and it was need of the hour that both economy and democracy must be strengthened on top priority.
They said that agitations were causing huge loss to national economy besides hampering economic growth.
Zakaria said that in the prevailing global scenario, the survival of states now absolutely bank on sound economy. He said to achieve this target, political stability is equally pre-requisite.  He said that a one-day strike call causes billions of rupees loss to national kitty besides rendering millions of daily wagers jobless.
He said that all political parties should shun the politics of agitation in the larger national interest to strengthen both national economy and democracy.
Zakaria categorically announced that entire business community once again reposed their full confidence in the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and in prevailing circumstance, the elected government must complete its five-year term for sustained economic growth.
He said, “We strongly condemn the anti-democratic self-styled politics of Tahirul Qadri and PTI chief Imran Khan, who are bent upon derailing the system to achieve their ulterior motives to please foreign masters.”
He said that due to the volatile political situation, various exhibitions and sports events in Pakistan had been cancelled, which he added was a great national loss.
Vice President SAARC CCI Iftikhar Ali Malik stressed the need for resolving their political differences immediately by holding peaceful talks instead of putting national economy, solidarity and integrity at stake.
“We fully support the elected government unconditionally, and will not allow disgruntled elements to sabotage democracy,” he said and added, “Continuity of a politically stable government is mandatory for sound economy.”
