The Guyana Public Service Union is threatening Civil Disobedience if the Government fails to abide by the rule of law. The union is hoping that it does not reach to that stage. The union’s comments were in direct reference to the dismissal of two nurses and the suspension of another over the disappearance of a quantity of morphine from the GPHC.
The Union’s President, Patrick Yarde, at a briefing today said, that the dismissal was improperly done. The GPSU has since written the CEO of the Hospital, requesting a meeting and the nurses reinstated.
Kemton Alexander, Union Representative of GPSU, said, the conduct of the management is contrary to the agreement for the avoidance and settlement of dispute between the hospital and union.
The GPSU said, they will intensify their action if what is happening is not addressed in a timely manner.
