The leader of the Sri Lanka’s Sarvodaya Movement Dr. A.T Ariyaratne has been selected to receive the prestigious Basava Sree Award 2011 at Sri Murugha Math, Chithradurga, and Bangalore in India.
Basava Sree Award was established in 1997 in the name of Sri Basaveshwara who led a nonviolent revolution 900 years ago to liberate the downtrodden masses from social, political and Economical operation in Karnataka State.
The Basava Award 2011 will be awarded to Dr.A.T Ariyarathne by Dr.Sri Shivamurthy Murugha Sharanaru, The present Head of the Sri Murugha Math in the presence of former Indian President Dr. Abdul Kalam.
Among the previous recipients of the award were his Holiness Dalai Lama, Dr. Kiran Bedi, Dr. Vandana Shiva. Sri Beldal Sharanaru, Dr. Heremallur Eshwaran, Dr.Sudarshan.
The award ceremony will be held in Chithradurga on 15th of August.
